History
Verallia is the glass packaging brand of Saint-Gobain, created for the glass bottles and jars market. Our brand reflects our values and our unique, winning combination of strength and proximity: the strength of our manufacturing expertise, design capabilities and sales network, and the proximity that we cultivate every day with our customers and business partners.
Although Verallia is a relatively new name in the glass packaging industry, the company is deeply rooted in glassmaking tradition, beginning more than three hundred years ago in Europe and with roots dating back to 1842 in the United States.
1842 :
Joseph Foster started a glass factory in Stoddard, New Hampshire which evolved through the generations to Foster-Forbes Glass Company1886 :
Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company was incorporated and grew into Ball Corporation.1995 :
The two U.S. glass companies merged to become Ball-Foster Glass Container Company and formed a joint venture with Saint-Gobain.1996 :
Saint-Gobain acquired the remaining interest in the joint venture.2000 :
The company was renamed Saint-Gobain Containers in 2000.2010 :
The Verallia brand was launched worldwide by Saint-Gobain Packaging.
Verallia North America continues as a leader in the U.S. glass manufacturing industry with 13 plants strategically located throughout the US, with nearly 4,400 employees producing more than nine billion bottles and jars annually.
